Plagiarism, a pervasive issue entails the act of appropriating another person's ideas or words without proper attribution. In verbal discourse, it involves claiming thoughts as one's own, while in written form, it manifests as a lack of originality. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines plagiarism as "stealing and passing off ideas or words of another as one's own," or "presenting as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source." To combat plagiarism, individuals must cultivate awareness and adhere to ethical writing practices, including proper citation and referencing of sources.
